Cru Cellars will celebrate seven years this summer in Palma Ceia, and I can truly say that being a mom has made me a better business person over the last three years. My husband and I started Cru before Ada (3) and Teddy (6 months) came into our lives, with the mission of bringing delicious, authentic and affordable wines to South Tampa, and our wine bar/restaurant and wine shop has become a wonderful gathering place for dinner dates, girls’ nights, wine tastings and private events. With a new baby at home, I had to step away from the day-to-day of the wine bar, but having children has allowed me to work on my business and spend my time doing what is most productive. Children enrich our lives so much, and I am thankful to have time with them while balancing a career I love – which means bringing good wine to you!
One of my favorites for the season is rosé, so here are three of my favorites at Cru now:
La Fage “Miraflors” Rosé (Grenache, Mouvedre, Carignan), Cotes du Roussillon, France – Your token rosé from the South of France, and this one delivers! White cherries, wild strawberries and rose petals; incredibly layered and balanced. $16.99
Jansz Brut Rosé (Pinot Noir), Tasmania, Australia – incredible value for a champagne-like bubbly – like strawberries with fresh cream and a frothy, dry finish! $23.99
CasaSmith “Vino” Rosé (Sangiovese), Washington – Delicate watermelon rind and cherry fruit offset by subtle minerality and dried herbs. Who knew sangiovese (the grape of Chianti) in the United States could make such delicious juice? $14.99
