If you still think you don’t need a teddy bear, listen to this. Clinical psychologist and New York Times best-selling author, Dr. Shefali Tsbari, describes stuffed animals as “icon(s) of comfort, mitigating potential feelings of uncertainty as we transition into a new life stage.” Teddy bears are pretty much universally accepted as items of comfort for children, but they can also be that for adults.
Besides comfort, teddy bears are also great for security. According to the survey commissioned by Build-A-Bear, 40% of respondents sleep with stuffed animals at their sides. Of those, men and women alike reported to sleeping with a them for security purposes. In fact, more men than women admitted to this.
