Weekend Family Fun in Tampa Bay | March 10 & 11

Lucky you, lucky us! There are so many family-friendly things to do in Tampa Bay this weekend that you just might  have a hard time figuring out which one to attend as we head into SPRING BREAK for some students in Tampa Bay!

Here are some of our top picks for the weekend of March 10 & 11:

Things to Do in Tampa Bay on Saturday and Sunday, March 10 & 11:

Gasparilla Music Festival | Mar 10-11, various times This annual festival celebrates Tampa with an eclectic assortment of music to inspire and entertain. Enjoy art in every form with performances from local artisans, aerialists, crafters, dancers, drum circles, hair braiders, double-dutch jumpers, pop-up performers and marching bands. Check out the Kids Fest, a festival within a festival designed just for kids with special activities and live performances just for them from 11:30am-2pm each day! Busch Gardens Tampa Bay Food and Wine Festival | Through Apr 29, Weekends  Savor culinary delights and sample an expanded selection of wines, craft brews and cocktails from around the world at Busch Gardens in Tampa.

9th Annual Storybook Forest at Crews Lake Wilderness Park in Spring Hill, 11am-2pm | Come out and see storytellers ignite guests’ imaginations as they bring children’s stories to life. Children will have the opportunity to participate in story themed crafts and meet some of their favorite literary characters.  Don’t miss out on this FREE family event! Support early literacy and rediscover the magic of reading!  

Fossilfest | Mar 10-11, various times  Learn about Florida’s prehistoric past at this show featuring fossils, artifacts, gems, minerals and shells on display at the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa. Weekend offers workshops, exhibits, kids games and raffles. For a small fee, kids can explore a Fossil Mine to uncover prehistoric fossils donated by club members. Admission is $8 adults and free to kids ages 12 and younger.

Day out with Thomas: Big Adventures tour 2018 | Mar 10, 11, 16-18, various times  All aboard for a day out with  Thomas the Train! . This event will include a train ride with the classic storybook engine at regional heritage railroads, Thomas and Friends-themed entertainment, and a visit to Imagination Station for arts and crafts.

Valspar Championship | Mar 4-11, various times  Catch PGA Tour golf live at Innisbrook Golf Resort in Palm Harbor. Enjoy four rounds of golf as well as a food truck rally, Grape and Grain, the Family Fun Zone and the Fourth Annual Valspar LIVE! Concert which will include two top country music artists. This is a weeklong event that includes The Osteo Bi-Flex Made to Move Copperhead 5K and guest appearances by notable 2018 professional players.

Largest Bounce House Ever | Mar 9-11, various times  Visit Keystone Recreation Center for the largest bounce house ever. Surrounding the main 10,000 square feet of bounce structures is an additional 10,000 square feet of bounce structures including a four piece inflatable obstacle course, a giant ball pit, a water slide, and a bounce house for little bouncers.

14th annual Firestone Grand Prix in St. Petersburg, March 9-11 | Your pint sized and full sized race fans will love attending this annual event in St. Petersburg! Be a part of the action and watch as race car drivers navigate a temporary race track through downtown! The action is non-stop and you’ll surely make lifelong memories!

Florida Strawberry Festival | Through Mar 11, various times  Pack up the kids and head to Plant City for this long time Bay area tradition offering visitors fun midway rides, games, shows, exhibits and access to great live music through its popular concert series. Sample scrumptious strawberry-themed dishes and visit the neighborhood village to check out this year’s ribbon winners. Admission is $10 (ages 13 and older); $5 for kids ages 6-12; and free for ages 5 and younger.

Gasparilla: A Tampa Tradition , Through March 4 |  Explore the history of Tampa Bay’s most beloved community festival. Learn about the early Gasparilla parades through vintage photographs and Ann Lowe-designed Gasparilla gowns to see how they compare to the way we celebrate today. 

Star Wars™ and the Power of Costume, Through April 1, 2018 |  View this popular temporary exhibit when the Smithsonian traveling exhibition visits the St. Pete museum to showcase its iconic costumes from a galaxy far, far away.

Treasure Seekers: Conquistadors, Pirates and Shipwrecks at the Tampa Bay History Center| various dates and times  Set sail with conquistadors, prowl the coast with privateers and pirates and dive to the ocean floor in search of lost treasure in the Tampa Bay History Center’s all-new Treasure Seekers gallery. This brand-new permanent addition to the History Center features a nearly full-scale replica of an 18th-century sailing sloop, the interactive Pirates Fate theater and rare, 300-year-old artifacts recovered from Florida waters.

Bay Area Renaissance Festival | Through Mar 25, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.  Stroll through a charming 16th century village and experience the food, music and activities of the Middle Ages at this festival held outside Tampa’s MOSI. Browse stalls and watch entertainment across a dozen stages. Entry is $20.95 adults and $12.95 children ages 5-12. Free parking.

Things to Do on Saturday, March 10:

Coloring Trees: A Mindfulness Program | Mar 10, 9 – 10 a.m. Pull on your pirate duds to attend this Gasparilla-themed family yoga class! Participants will flow through pirate-inspired poses and practice pirate impressions. This event coincides with the Gasparilla Music Festival and is in partnership with Evolve Personal Health.

Reptilepalooza at Clearwater Marine Aquarium | Mar 10, 18, 25, 31, Apr 8, various times  Learn about cold-blooded creatures with fun activities and up close encounters with live tortoises, snakes, skinks, and alligators.

Lippo the Clown’s Small Family Circus | Mar 10, 11 a.m. Loveable Lippo the clown is coming to town at the Rehearsal Hall. The whole family will laugh as Lippo and his family circus perform beloved acts of the classic circus including juggling, unicycles and hilarious clown antics.

Gasparilla Music Festival Kids Fest featuring the Imaginaton Movers at Glazer Children’s Museum | Mar 11, 1 – 6p.m. The Glazer Children’s Museum is partnering with the Gasparilla Music Festival for a kid friendly event, which includes FREE museum admission, concerts special programs and the headlining, critically-acclaimed Imagination Movers. There will be two concerts–1pm & 3pm.
