Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo is not only enhancing and expanding its wildlife exhibits as we look ahead to the future, it also unveiled a new logo and name: ZooTampa at Lowry Park to launch this season of change.
“Our new logo is symbolic of our brand’s evolution during the past two years and our vision for the future. It is representative of our growing commitment to wildlife conservancy, as well as the major role we will play in the heartbeat of Tampa’s future,” said ZooTampa at Lowry Park’s CEO, Joe Couceiro.
One of the most obvious signs of change is something you can see right now as construction continues on the new ride, Roaring Springs set to open in May. The ride replaces the log plume ride and will give guests an opportunity to cool off–kids as young as 4 will be able to ride with their families.
Roaring Springs will be hugged by the recently opened Animal Care Center which will soon be visible for guests to get up close and personal with a zoo at work. It is also within steps of the Jungle Carousel and Wallaroo Station which will eventually undergo enhancements in the future.
Other areas that will see expansion and/or enhancements include: Florida Waters with the renovation of the water filtration system that will allow the zoo to care for even more manatees in need. The otter habitat and Stingray Bay, two popular interactive exhibits will also see upgrades in the near future.
Florida Wilds will be an expansion of the existing Boardwalk and habitat to allow the zoo to make room to care for more animals, many which will be rescues that cannot be released back into the wild. One cool feature we can’t wait to see is the addition of a walkway for the Florida Panthers to cross over guests as they stroll through the park!
ZooTampa’s CEO Joe Coureiro announced they’re also planning improvements to the Asia and Africa realms of the zoo in the future as part of the master plan.
While these plans for the future are super exciting for our growing community, but there are also some NEW things happening right now that your family can enjoy like:
