Even though Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial kick off to summertime family fun, there’s a definite chill in the air! Sea World Orlando opens their latest attraction, Antarctica Empire of the Penguin on Friday, May 24, 2013 at 8:45am with a very special “ice-cutting” ceremony. Country artist Lauren Alaina will be performing the Antarctica “One World, One Family” theme song during the special event. Be sure to arrive early – the first 700 people through the admission gates will receive a souvenir Antarctica bracelet.
When visiting Antarctica at Sea World, feel free to wear black and white just like Puck, the adorable penguin guests will meet on the Antarctica Empire of the Penguin simulator ride. Fortunately, this ride is ideal for all ages as long as folks can sit upright in the seat. Choose the mild or wild version then sit back as you slip, slide, and dive through a frozen rainbow of sights and sounds. At the end of the ride, penguins stand ready to welcome you into their new found home in Orlando. Visit as long as you can handle the 30 degree breezes! There’s a warmer observation area with plenty of levels to watch the penguins waddle through the snow then slip into the icy waters to soar. The lighting changes throughout the day to simulate weather conditions in Antarctica. It is spectacular!
After the ride, build your own penguin shaped cup for just under $16. It’s an adorable and practical souvenir! The price includes a free first fill of your favorite Coca-Cola drink. Be sure to try the exclusive Vanilla South Pole Chill flavor at the South Pole Beverage stations. It’s oh so sweet!
Please visit Sea World for more information about park hours, special events, and attractions. Tell them Tampa Bay Parenting Magazine sent you and have fun!
