Florida is a tourism hot spot–the attractions, beaches and lively cities are probably what attracted you to the Tampa Bay Area in the first place.
But, sometimes you just want a little bit more space and head somewhere that’s a little less people-y.
We get it! Here are some of our favorite spots to take the kids when you want to avoid major crowds, but still get out and about in Tampa Bay!
Bring a picnic basket and plenty of water for an all day adventure among nature and in the shade of beautiful trees!
*Busch Gardens will be closing through the end of March starting on Monday, March 16 out of an abundance of caution due to coronavirus.
Okay, so technically these are big attractions that often attract crowds, but if you avoid the rides, there is plenty of outdoor and open space to wander and look at the animals.
We’re still outside here! One way to take in the great outdoors on the water is by boat like the Pirate Water Taxi in Tampa. It doesn’t get overly crowded, so you’ll have plenty of personal space for your family.
We know, we know. This is another attraction, but it’s all outdoors, so there’s plenty of space to keep your distance as you wander the trail and search for dinosaurs.
Aim to visit the less crowded beaches like Honeymoon Island and Caladesi Island. In general, most beaches in our area allow you at least six feet of space from the peeps over on the next towel.
Inhale all of the fresh air and take in the sun’s rays as you and the kids hunt for the best strawberries, sweetest oranges and greenest veggies! There are so many unique farms in Tampa Bay to discover! We’re sharing some favorite spots here! Be sure to check with each farm’s website or social media pages as u-pick hours and days vary.
