Celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. this holiday weekend in Tampa Bay. From parades to special events, there is something for every family on our list!
33rd Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parae: Saturday, January 19 from 1pm-2:30pm
This year’s parade celebrates “Unity Starts Here!” This long running parade marches along a 1.4 mile route featuring bands, local leaders, and more! The parade starts at Wheeler and MLK and continues on to the Plant City MLK Community Center. There will be vendors, food, live music and much more family-friendly entertainment, so get ready to collect all the beads and candy! Learn more.
30th Annual Martin Luther King Day Parade in Tampa: Monday, January 21 from 12pm-3pm
Thousands of people attend this family-friendly event each year and this year isn’t expected to be any different! Join the community in celebration of Martin Luther Kin song the two mile route from East Tampa from Cuscaden Park to Middleton High School. There will marching bands, floats and more! MLK Dream Big Parade and Family Fun Day Festival in St. Petersburg: Monday, January 21 from 11am-6pm
St. Petersburg’s MLK Dream Big Parade is the nation’s longest running MLK Day parade! Be a part of history and watch as the parade makes its way west on 1st Ave S starting at 3rd St at 11am to Tropicana Field for the Family Fun Day celebration! High school and college bands will be marching along with local business and community leaders! Stay for the Family Fun Day Festival from 2pm-6pm where there will be bounces houses, slides, food vendors, local businesses and MORE! This event is FREE to attend. MLK Weekend Celebration and Parade in Brooksville: Parade is Monday, January 21 at 10am
The weekend long celebration commences with a parade starting at Hernando High School at 10am! Join your neighbors as they celebrate and honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. There will be a Basketball Shoot Out contest following at 1pm at Hernando High School. Admission for this event is $5. MLK Day at Glazer Children’s Museum in Tampa, Monday, January 21 from 10am-5pm
This year’s theme inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s famous speech: “I have a dream.” The MLK Day celebration will kick off a month long event recognizing Black History Month in February. Kids can participate in the Inspiration Installation and write down their dreams and add to the wall. glazer museum.org
