Kick off the new year with Spring classes at The Marcia P. Hoffman School of the Arts at Ruth Eckerd Hall! There’s a class for individuals of all ages and experience levels. Come explore your talents in Dance, Drama, On-Camera Acting and much more! Classes begin on January 14 and are enrolling now.
Many returning favorites as well as new classes are offered this Spring, don’t miss out! There are classes for everyone.
Dance 1 – Love to dance on stage? Love to dance anywhere?! You’ll love this class! Students ages 6-11 will review basic and essential dance skills like rhythm, coordination, strength, flexibility, and personality. Then move on to ballet, jazz, and tap basics catered to the individual student’s progress.
On-Camera Acting: Teens – On-Camera Acting differs in several specific ways from stage acting. Students ages 11-14 who wish to learn on camera acting and/or pursue this profession must fully understand and embrace those differences, easily understand TV & film lingo, become comfortable with cold readings, develop their creative processes for script and role development, and master camera technique as well as having some knowledge of the expectations of the film/TV Industry.
Ruth Eckerd Hall Chorus – Tuesday nights are for singing! Students ages 19 and up can join in for the spring semester with Mr. Yohance Wicks and the members of the Ruth Eckerd Hall Chorus. Spring repertoire includes popular, traditional, Broadway and concert literature that is fun to sing, and gives an opportunity for members to learn and grow as musicians.
Musical Theater – Students will work with our master Instructors in dance, music, and theater to develop themselves into a true triple threat. Sections are available for multiple age levels. Their work will culminate in the Ruth Eckerd Hall Spring Cabaret, a fully produced event showcasing all levels. A great way to head into summer! Intro to Musical Theater is open to students ages 8-12 and Advanced Musical Theater is open to students 13-18.
Instrumental Jazz – The Marcia P. Hoffman School of the Arts is known for setting the standard of jazz education in the Tampa Bay Area. Our program includes students from four surrounding counties, with many alumni studying in our country’s top music schools; including Berklee College of Music and the Manhattan School of Music.
