The Comeback: What’s OPEN in Tampa Bay and What’s About to Open

Tampa Bay is emerging from self-imposed quarantines as Safer at Home orders lift– and the Comeback is cautiously beginning to take shape.

But, the move to reopen will not be a return to normal, rather a slow and vigilant approach. Expect reduced capacity.

So, let’s get to the good news…

Now OPEN in Tampa Bay:

The Florida Aquarium reopened on May 15 by reservation only. The Aquarium worked with the TGH Infectious Disease Prevention Team to ensure all steps are being taken to protect guests and staff. Masks will be required as of right now and social distancing encouraged. (flaquarium.org)

Dinosaur World reopened on Thursday, May 7. All hands-on activities will be closed, but you will be able to stroll the Dino Walk. Admission will be $10 plus tax during this time. (DinosaurWorld.com)

American Victory Ship and Museum reopened on Friday, May 8 with new safety and sanitizing procedures in place along with encouraging visitors to practice social distancing. This is the ship you’ll find right next to the Florida Aquarium! (www.americanvictory.org)

Clearwater Marine Aquarium welcomed back guests on Friday, May 15. Their doors are only open to a limited number of guests to ensure your safety and the safety of their staff and animals. You can reserve a time slot by calling (727) 441-1790 ex. 0. (seewinter.com)

Pirate Water Taxi in Tampa set sail once again on Friday, May 15. They will be taking extra precautions like many businesses to keep guests and staff safe. Expect reduced capacity and be patient. (piratewatertaxi.com)

Reopening Soon in Tampa Bay:

MOSI is reopening May 27 with changes in place to keep guests safe. You’ll see guest facing staff wearing masks. The museum will be kept at 50% capacity. Learn more here.

ZooTampa also announced it will be opening on Friday, May 29. Capacity will be limited to 50% and physical distancing of 6 feet or more will be enforced. The Zoo will also be providing employees with PPE and offering guests disposable masks. Expect a thermal temperature check when you arrive through the front gate, too. (ZooTampa.org)

Tampa Bay History Center will reopen on June 1. Capacity will be limited, so be sure to book your timed-entry ticket here beginning May 22. Some hands on exhibits will be disabled for now and cleaning and sanitizing will be increased. Guests will be encouraged to wear a mask and practice social distancing.

Legoland Florida welcomes back guests on June 1. Legoland Hotel and the new Pirate Island Hotel will also allow stays beginning June 1.  (Legoland.com)

Glazer Children’s Museum reopens on June 6. Additional safety measures will be put into place like keeping capacity at 25% at first. You will need to book a timed reservation which begins May 28. Museum members will need a reservation, too. (glazermuseum.org)

Orlando Theme Park Reopening Dates:

While there is plenty of speculation on when the theme parks will be opening, we will wait for official announcements before sharing. Disney Springs began a phased reopening on May 20 –many stores and restaurants are operated by third parties. The resorts and parks remain closed as of right now. You can read more here.

Universal Studios in Orlando announced it will reopen on June 5 and the Kennedy Space Center will reopen on May 28.

Beaches, most parks, and preserves are now open in Tampa Bay, but playground equipment and picnic areas are still closed. Social distancing is being encouraged at all of these spots.
