Our 10+ favorite things to do this weekend in Tampa Bay

We say it every week and we’ll say it again…the weekend is here and the forecast for FUN is 100%!



Must-See Festivals in Tampa Bay:

Florida State Fair

Head to the Florida State Fair for the final weekend | February 7-18 
The Fair may be known for its fried everything and crazy rides, but there’s so much more to see! Little ones will love the Mooternity Ward where baby animals make their debut! It’s basically 12 days of non-stop fun! The rides, games, live music, agricultural exhibits, and of course…the food!!! Hillsborough County students get in for free on Friday, February 8 with ticket provided by the school system. Other area students get in for free on Monday, February 18 with their student ID. floridastatefair.com 



Bay Area Renaissance Festival near MOSI in Tampa | February 16 – March 31, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. 
Fair maidens and merciful gents are invited out to the Tampa Bay Renaissance Festival taking guests back to the 16th century. Enjoy over 100 artisans for a truly one of a kind shopping experience. Encounter those in character to really transport guests back 400 years and maybe even view a live action jousting. bayarearenfest.com

Hello Kitty Cafe Truck makes stop at WestShore Plaza near H&M | February 16, 10am-8pm
Fans of Hello Kitty can look forward to exclusive goodies and limited-edition collectibles, including: a Giant Hello Kitty Chef Cookie; Lunchbox with Confetti Popcorn; Hello Kitty Plush Toy + New Petit Fours Box Set. Coco screening at Al Lopez Park in Tampa | February 16, 7 p.m. 
Be a part of the Tampa Theatre’s Traveling Picture Show featuring their new outdoor film series, parkCINEMA. Sponsered by F.E. Lykes Foundation, showings of family friendly movies will be screened at Curtis Hixon Park, and other surrounding areas. Don’t miss a screening of Coco at Al Lopez Park, 4810 Himes Ave on February 16th. tampatheatre.org  



Ready, Set, Go! Grand Prix car on display at Great Explorations | February 16, 10am-2pm
Come see, sit in and take photos with the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg’s show car which will be in front of Great Explorations on Saturday, February 16th from 10 am – 2 pm.   The museum will feature our Ready, Set, Go! programming on the floor of the museum that day with race-related activities which will include a sensory play car wash using shaving cream and an opportunity to build a handheld racecar using basic STEAM concepts in addition to our regular exhibits and educational programming. No registration is required and there is no cost to visit the show car out front.  The additional activities happening inside the museum will be included with regular admission or are free for our members. greatex.org


The Art Spot at Tampa Museum of Art.

Art Spot at the Tampa Museum of Art | Saturday, February 16 from 11am-2pm

Marine Science Fest at Clearwater Marine Aquarium | February 16-18 from 10am-6pm
This Presidents’ Day weekend, enjoy fun-filled educational activities such as marine animal games, scientific demonstrations, experiments, and much more!  Learn about local environmental programs from community partners including Eckerd Marine Science Club, Shark Conservation Club, USF Marine Lab, Tampa Bay Watch and Keep Pinellas Beautiful. seewinter.com


Ongoing FUN in Tampa Bay to try!


NEW Koala Encounter debuts at ZooTampa | Saturday and Sunday at 11:30 am
This new encounter and area in Wallaroo Station at the Zoo is truly a magical experience that puts you and your kids up close with a koala! You won’t be able to touch the animal, but there are no barriers in this new walkway area and there are plenty of chances to snap a perfect photo with the marsupial! The encounter is $15 for Zoo members and $25 for non-members. A photo is included with the experience.  zootampa.org


The Pigeon Comes to Tampa

A Pigeon Comes to Tampa! A Mo Willems Exhibit at Glazer Children’s Museum, all weekend through May 12, 2019
This is such a sweet exhibit for little ones as they step into the world of children’s book author and illustrator Mo Willems! Join Glazer Children’s Museum for the grand opening weekend this Saturday and Sunday to be among the first to play in the interactive exhibits featuring your child’s favorite characters like Pigeon, Elephant and Piggie!  See our INSIDE LOOK here
