Labor Day Celebrations

The summer has finally come to a close, and to celebrate the beginning of Fall and all of the hard work you have done over the summer, it is time to relax! Of course, the beach might be your go-to Labor Day weekend spot, but these events from around the Bay are a great way to let the summer go out with a bang.

Lighted Boat Parade and Fireworks at the Aquarium

Aug. 31, 5 p.m.
Enjoy extended hours at the Florida Aquarium until 9 p.m., and admission is only $15. Guests can enjoy Explore a Shore and all of their favorite exhibits will be open. The Tampa Attractions Association will be hosting a Summer Lighted Boat Parade on the Channelside waterway ending in a fireworks show at 8:45 p.m.! Visit the website to purchase tickets. 

Labor Day Poolside Picnic

Sept. 1, noon-3 p.m.
Pack up the family and a blanket for a picnic by the pool at Highland Family Aquatic Center in Largo. Enjoy a special family an friends discount admission. Splash’s Snack Bar will also be open.

Celebrate Oldsmar 2014

Aug. 29-30, 10 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Enjoy free admission at Olds Park in Oldsmar, and celebrate the long weekend with carnival rides, games, arts and crafts, food, music, and more. Don’t miss the fireworks show on Friday at 9 p.m.

Ella the Elephant Performance

Aug. 30, 11 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Come see Ella the Elephant perform live and stay for a meet and greet. Ella will be performing periodically throughout the day.

Gecko Fest

Aug, 31, 10 a.m. – 10 p.m.
Come out to Gecko Fest in Gulfport. With live performers, street vendors, food, and a parade, this event is an excellent way to end the summer and soak in the sunshine.

Labor Day Picnic and Bluegrass Festival 

Sept. 1, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Come celebrate Labor day with the Elks Lodge of Brandon. With free music, a bounce house for the kids, and $6 burgers or pulled pork, this event is sure to be a blast.

Ride the Big Slide at Veteran’s Memorial Park Pool 

Aug. 30- Sept. 1, noon-7 p.m.
The Pasco County Parks and Rec. department invites you to ride the giant waterslide! Admission is only $3 for kids, $4 for adults. This giant inflatable water slide is a great way too cool off.

Florida’s Largest Homeshow

Aug. 29- Sept. 1, 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.
For parents looking to shop and start home renovations this holiday weekend, come check out Florida’s Largest  Homeshow at the Florida State Fairgrounds! There will be vendors to help you with anything you need for your home, and activities for the kids!

United Skates of America Labor Day Spectacular

Aug. 29- Sept. 1, various times
United Skates of America on Armenia Ave in Tampa is offering skating sessions all weekend long, including the new Saturday Night Cosmic Family Skate, the Sunday Adult Soul Roll Late Skate, and the Labor Day All-Day Skate!
