Halloween Candy: Science experiments, how to donate and more!

Did your little ghosts and goblins come home with a huge haul of Halloween candy? Not sure what to do with all those sweets? Here are some of our favorite ideas on what to do with all that Halloween candy!

Save it for later!

Keep the best stuff and save it for later! We always keep a stash for ourselves (because why not?!?) and then put away the sorted candy and let our kids pick two pieces each night after they have finished their dinner.

You can also repurpose the candy into sweet treats! Delish.com shared 20+ recipes that are definitely worth whipping up in the kitchen!

Science experiments to try with Halloween candy:

Glazer Children’s Museum shared some awesome ways you and your kids can transform your candy into a fun learning experience! You can make edible slime and test your knowledge with float or sink! Find the article here!

tricks and treats

Ghost eggs are also fun any time of year!

You can also make edible paint out of Skittles! Kate White with Glazer Children’s Museum says you can add Skittles to a small bowl full of corn syrup, give it a good stir (to let the color melt into the syrup) and then paint for a sweet masterpiece!

How to Donate Halloween Candy:

**This list is from 2019. We will update once new information is available!

The thrill of the hunt for Halloween candy has worn off, so why not share the sweets with our troops! There are several organizations that will pack together your donated candy and send it to our troops in a care package, along with a toothbrush in many cases!

OperationGratitude.com is one to consider!

Tampa Bay area dentist offices and businesses are participating with HalloweenCandyBuyBack.com this year and will even buy back your candy for $1 per pound! Here are the offices listed within a 30 mile radius of downtown Tampa according to the site (be sure to call first to verify):
