The challege is part of a grant program through College Football Playoff and Gerdau Long Steel North America to help beautify local schools through tree-planting, landscaping and planting community gardens. Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful is partnering with the schools to help put the “green” plans in to action. The projects will address one of five environmental areas: recycling, food waste, water conservation, energy conservation and environmental education/awareness.
Each school that successfully implements the challenge will receive a $500 grant for school supplies and a $1,000 grant to put toward “greening” their school.
The participating schools are Oak Grove Elementary, Wimauma Elementary, Westshore Elementary, Mintz Elementary, Bailey Elementary Bryan Elementary, Robles Elementary, Witter Elementary, Dickenson Elementary and Thompson Elementary School.
