Maggie Westlake

Maggie has always been extraordinary.
This is Maggie’s 10th year in Girl Scouts. She has completed many volunteer hours with community projects. She has earned her Bronze and Silver Awards through the Girl Scouts, and is working on her Gold Award. Maggie has earned many Leadership pins through the Girl Scouts.
Maggie has played the violin for 5 years and is the Concert Master for her high school’s orchestra. She has won awards for her playing.
A love for animals drew Maggie to Tampa Bay Technical High School’s Veterinary Assistant Magnet Program. Through the Veterinary Program Maggie joined FFA. This year Maggie is the Historian for her school’s FFA Chapter. She has enjoyed participating in competitions with the FFA such as an FFA Trivia Contest and Memorizing the FFA’s National Creed. Maggie has attended several Leadership Conferences held by the FFA.
I thought Maggie was extraordinary before, but in the first week of January 2012 Maggie’s Father died. He left behind myself, Maggie, and her four brothers. As his death was sudden I was not prepared and this has been a difficult time for us all. Maggie has stepped in and helped her family. She has been doing most of the cooking, house cleaning, and supporting especially her little brother.
Maggie is extraordinary for her musical talent as well as her competitive nature. She is an excellent role model for younger Girl Scouts. Her school spirit shines for every pep rally or school event. Her love for her community leads Maggie to volunteer for many activities. Her involvement in the Veterinary Program at TBT and the FFA allows her to gain the knowledge she needs to persue her dream to become a veterinarian for large and exotic animals. But I am also proud of Maggie stepping in and emotionally supporting her family during this hard time.
Maggie goes beyond Extraordinary.
