Passports with Purpose

Passports with Purpose was started in 2008 as a travel-inspired online fundraiser and raised an impressive $7,400 for Heifer International.  Now, Passports with Purpose’s annual campaign is supported by a huge travel blogging community and, for the first time, includes Tampa Bay Parenting Magazine among its list of participants!

The 2013 Passports with Purpose campaign goal is to raise $115,000 to give to buildOn to construct three primary schools and fund three Adult Literacy Programs in the Sikasso Region of Mali, Africa.  For more than two decades, buildOn mobilized rural villages in some of the poorest countries on the planet to build more than 500 schools.  Why Mali?  According to the UN, it is the fifth poorest country in the world and only one in five women there know how to read.

Want to make a difference this holiday season and maybe even win a prize or two?

Here’s how!  Click on Passports with Purpose and peruse the prize catalogue. Choose which prizes you want to win.  Each $10 donation you make will earn you an entry for one of the prizes in the catalogue.  All of the proceeds raised will go to buildOn.

Since this year’s Passports with Purpose funds will be used to build schools and fund programs in Mali, Africa through buildOn, collaborating with Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo on a prize giveaway seems ideal.  We’re giving away four general admission tickets to the zoo ($100 value) through the Passports with Purpose campaign.

Lowry Park Zoo, rated the best zoo in the USA by Parents Magazine, features a variety of family friendly educational programs and limitless family fun!   At Safari Africa, zoo visitors can see some of the most amazing wildlife from an up close but safe vista.  The elephants, zebra, white rhinos, pygmy hippos, cheetah, okapi and more keep us visiting throughout the year.  Getting eye-to-eye with the giraffe and feeding them lettuce is a must do!

Please consider donating to Passports with Purpose this year. In addition to the Lowry Park Zoo tickets, there are many other fabulous prizes in the catalogue.  Each donation lets you choose the prize you want and increases your odds of winning.  Hurry!  The contest ends on December 9.  Winners will be randomly drawn from entries received.  Winners will be notified by December 16.

Special thanks to the all volunteer team at Passports with Purpose and the 2013 Sponsors:  Expedia, DK Eyewitness Guides and Rough Guides, TBEX, HomeAwayHostelBookersGo With Oh, and Eating London.

Good luck and thank you!
