Get Ready for Tampa Bay’s Kids Triathlon at Adventure Island!

Summer break is just around the corner and what better way to get your kiddies pumped than an awesome outdoor activity?!

IMG_6266On April 22nd, a Kids Triathlon will be held at everyone’s favorite Tampa Bay theme park: Adventure Island at Busch Gardens! This event will feature three super fun activities your kids already enjoy! Participants start off by swimming in the lazy river, followed by a bike course, and ending with an on-foot race to the finish line! After the ceremony, stay and explore all the wonders Busch Gardens has to offer.

How much to participate?

Entry fees are $55 per participant, but the 1st 400 will receive complementary “Stay and Play” ticket to Adventure Island! Didn’t make the cut? No worries! Additional Stay and Play tickets will be available during registration for a discount of $28. Entry tickets include an Under Armour t-shirt and a finisher’s medal, so everybody wins!

How do I register my child?

You can visit their website to register, and online registration closes on April 20th. However, you would still be able to register on Packet Pick-Up day on the 21st if you miss the deadline. Keep in mind that you won’t be able to register on Race Day.

Where should I park?

Parking is free for all participating in the event and the lot is located in the bus/overflow parking lot across from Adventure Island’s employee parking lot. If you do decide to enjoy the park after the race, remember to move your vehicle to the regular parking lot.

What is Packet Pick-Up?

On the 21st starting at 3:30 pm, parents are encouraged to pick up the materials required for kids to participate like wristbands, race numbers, and dropping off the bike intended to be used during the race. The great thing about picking up these materials in advance is that you avoid the congestion at Check-In on Race Day. Packet Pick-Up and Race Day Check-In opens at 5 am on the 22nd

What should my child bring on Race Day?

  • Swimsuit
  • Gogglesmaxresdefault (1)
  • Water bottle
  • Towels
  • Bike
  • Helmet
  • Sunscreen
  • Shirt
  • Shorts
  • Running shoes
  • Hat
  • & Their A-Game!

How are the age groups divided?

The JV (Junior Varsity) squad is made up of 6-10-year-olds and they participate in the 100-meter swim, 1.5-mile bike, and .5 mile run. The Varsity section is made up of 11-14-year-olds and they participate in the 200-meter swim, 3-mile bike, and 1-mile run. *The official age is the age your child is on December 31st of this year.

When will awards be distributed?

The award ceremony begins as soon as the last participant crosses the finish line, so make sure to stick around after your child completes his/her race to enjoy the music, entertainment, snacks, and beverages! Trophies and awards will be given to the top 3 males and females in each age group (6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14). Remember, even if your child doesn’t win, they can still have a blast in the rest of the park after!

Still have more questions? Make sure to visit their website for more detailed information on the race courses and registration info. Good luck to all the racers and remember to have fun!
