YMCA Healthy Kids Day 2013

On Saturday, April 27th, Curis Hixon Park in downtown Tampa was full of families enjoying the Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day activities. This annual event encourages kids and parents to keep their bodies and minds active.

Throughout the event, families played football and soccer, learned about the Y’s summer camp programs, enjoyed music and entertainment, and visited the Tampa Bay Parenting Magazine booth to pick up community resource materials and the latest issue of the magazine.

A crowd favorite was the Mascot Dance Challenge.  Eleven mascots from area sports teams, restaurants, grocery stores, and the Fire Department competed to earn bragging rights as the dance champion.  After a close race and a dance off, Captain Fear from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won out over the competition.
